The Furbaby Philosophy

Developed by Furbaby Retreat and backed by cat-centric research, the Furbaby Philosophy© encompasses the feline hierarchy of needs for cats to live their best and most fulfilled life. Starting with their basic needs at the bottom of the Pyramid of Care, as each need is met your tiny tiger can move up the pyramid, to live their days in their most natural state – with confidence, curiosity, contentment & ease.
Our Commitment to the Furbaby Philosophy©
At Furbaby Retreat we use the Furbaby Philosophy© to triple check that all our services meet rigorous standards of cat-centric care; from our suite design, to our enrichment sessions, and the feedback we provide to our guests’ human family, everything we do centres around helping each cat thrive.
The Pyramid is based on 5 pillars: Protect, Comfort, Nourish, Flourish and Thrive, each one grounded in research specifically focused on the needs of cats.
Finally your cat is living their best cat life with maximum cat mojo! Your cat can arrive here with regular enrichment - think sensory & mental stimulation, play, play, play, play and play!
Seek to understand your cat and their unique behaviours, have empathy for their point of view & nurture your relationship, and watch your cat come into their own as they flourish, both physically AND emotionally.
To be and feel nourished is to live an optimal and balanced lifestyle. This starts with a biologically appropriate & healthy diet, ‘just right’ proportions, & diversity of taste AND texture.
Help your cat feel comfortable in their environment and in themselves through physical hygiene (think clean litter trays, clean bowls), comfortable surroundings, grooming & consistency.
Considered predators AND prey, a cats base need is to feel safe & protected in their environment. Without this, normal behaviours such as eating, toileting, grooming, socialising & playing are likely to be impacted.
